Steve achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in 1990. Passionate about sport, Steve began his career working at the Sport Medicine Clinic at the Talisman Centre assisting athletes of all ages and levels return to activities they loved. In the early 90s, Steve worked with the Saints Rugby Club as their on-field and clinical therapist. In 1998, Steve received the Canadian Physiotherapy Associations Intermediate Manual and Manipulation Diploma. In 1999 he was awarded the Advanced Diploma with distinction. After obtaining these diplomas, Steve became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. In 2002, after over a decade of developing manual therapy skills, Steve became a Certified Intramuscular Stimulation Practitioner.
Integrating patient education, manual therapy, intramuscular stimulation and detailed exercise prescription are cornerstones of Steve’s treatment philosophy. More recently he is fascinated by the role nutrition plays in the development and potential recovery of and from musculoskeletal problems. With a special interest in lower extremity biomechanical dysfunction he has extensive experience treating runners, cyclists, skiers, dancers and skaters. Steve also applies this same treatment philosophy for clients involved in motor vehicle accidents, who have sustained work related injuries or for the weekend warrior.
Steve fosters a holistic active lifestyle with his wife Tish, son Ben and daughter Kaylie. He enjoys running, strength training and believe it or not, despite his stature, volleyball. Steve’s newest passion is food and the complex biochemistry associated with the fuel that sustains us. He enjoys going to the market, preparing, cooking and most importantly savoring the end results.
